《Stay》在刚创作之初，Mikky Ekko并不喜欢这首歌曲，因为他认为这首歌曲很“脆弱”，不符合两人的风格。之后蕾哈娜劝他又听了一遍《Stay》的前奏，听了之后他突然发现这首歌曲对自己很有启发。于是决定继续写此曲。
