Is it more important for today’s university students to learn practical skills rather than theoretical knowledge?

Q1 : Which one do you prefer ,the American system and the Chinese system?

I think the American system laid more emphasis on the particial field.Since Law is regarded the tertiary industry, and no matter how excellent your law skill is , your goal is to escort the development of the other fields. But I do agree that the Chinese system does a better job meeting our society’s urgent need. I myself choose to be one of the pioneers of who take both Chinese and American courses of law as my choice.

Q2 : Is the university’s problem for making you feel that ?

I believe the universities’ tendency of offering more practical courses is driven by the need of students. Both students and universities are now competing with each other about the average salary of their graduate which can be somewhat pitiful because in that way the university is merely a vocational school. As long as our students becomes more rational ,the university will gradually change its direction.

Transforming ofย life

According to the dictionary, the word “transform” means “to completely change the appearance, form, or character of something or someone, especially in a way that improves it.” I think nobody will deny that our life is changing everyday , either in a goo¢d way or a bad one.But transforming indicates that life was totally changed by that, leading to a bright magical world of exciting innovations and development.

Many aspects have been transformed, for example the way we communicate with each other, the way we get around and so on. But today I do not want to waste the previous 5 minutes talking about tจhose somewhat transformed life, instead I would like to talk about something transforming, not only from the point of view of the present but also from the point of view of the future: artificial intelligence.

According to our history class, the initial symbol to distinguish human beings from animals is our ability to use tools.f۵or the last three and a half million years, the tool that we had have been completely passive. They do exactly what we told them and nothing more.we were liminated by this need to manually push our wills into our tools.

but now we have AI, artificial intelligence enables us to have a conversation with the computer. hey, computer, let’s design a rocket

and the computer shows me a rocket. and I say no, it should be more energy-saving and good looking, then the computer generates thousands of designs to find out the one that best meets me requirement. now the human just need to say what the design should achieve and the machine says :”here’s the possibilities “we call this “AI”,artificial intelligence that designed to meet human needs by collaborating and augmenting people.

AI is making this leap from being passive to being generative, computers are now designing many things all by themselves, all it needs is your goals and constrains. let me give you one thought- provoking case: once the scientist want to design a structure which can be as light-weighted as possible ,aerodynamic efficient and so on.and what the computer does is explore the entire possibilities that solves and meets your criteria, millions of them. But it comes with design that we by ourselves never could have imagined. the result is,the structure is almost the same as our sacral, because the AI is doing the way our revolution does. so it is predictable that over the course of the next 20years, more will change along the way of our life than has happened in the last 2000.

Another example with life-changing consequences is diagnosing cancer.when a doctor suspects cancer, they take a sample and send it to a pathologist who looks at it under a microscope.now pathologists look at hundreds of slides and millions of cells every day.so to support this task, task, some researchers made AI classifier. it turns out that the ai classifier is pretty good but not as good as the person who got it right most of the time .but, when they combine the ability of the machine and the human together, accur☮acy went to 99.5percent.adding that al to a partnership eliminated 85percent of the errors that the human pathologist would have made working alone. But the lesson here isn’t about which agent is better at the image-image-classification task.the lesson here is that by combining the abilities of the human and AI. It created a partnership that had superhuman performance and that is what is transforming our life now and then.

Another reason why I am standing here talking about al is that it is still controversial today in china.we are in the middle of a renaissance in artificial intelligence right now, every time a machine gets smarter, smarter, we get smarter and we are witnessing the real transforming of life.
