Television plays important part in our life. It shows us information program like the news and sports events. We can watch films, listen to interviews and hearing the sounds of events that happened far away. Television teach us about countries and cultures but we can enjoy entertainment. A television set can be used for another things as well. You can record shows and films for late viewing, watch DVDs, or even play video games. Television was being developed over 80 years ago, influenced our lives ever since.

Dear Sir,

I think it is important children to learn how to do chores and help their parents with houseworks. It is not enough to just getting good grades at school. Children these days depend on their parents too many. They are always asking about, “Could you get this for me?” or “Could you help me with that?” Doing chores help to develop children’s in dependence and teaches them how to look after themselves. It also helps them to understand the idea of fairness. Since they live in one house with their parents, they should know that everyone should do that they can to keep it clean and tidily. I met some of the most amazing people from all over the world. I wasn’t quite preparing for the culture shock of a different place at the beginning of. It appear that people don’t need phone boxes any longer. In a small British village, people decided to turning a red phone box into a library. Now, the phone box is one of the country smallest libraries. About 150 books sit on shelves in a phone box. Villagers there can take whatever they want and leave their own books for exchange. They can use the library around the clock when it’s open 365 days a year and 24 hours a day. Since the library opened its bright door, people from all parts of the village paid it a visit. Among it there’re senior citizens living in the neighborhood, children getting off school buses and university students are stopping by late at night. It is convenient for them to use such a wonderfully library.

Beijing has lots of famous tourist attractions. Every year many tourist come here to enjoy its beautiful scenery and rich culture. But several years ago, visitors behave badly. Some talked loudly in public and threw litter everywhere. Some picked flowers, cutting down trees and hurt animals. And even better, some painted on the walls and smoked in the woods.

Luckily, things has changed. Rubbish is always put into dustbins. People are friendly at animals. Everybody smokes in the woods. All these changes make us happily. I went to England last summer as a exchange student, and stayed there for three months. I used to thinking we had pretty various after-school activities. I’m going to study in the senior middle school on September. I can live either at school and at home. But I can’t decide because both has advantagesand disadvantages. At home, I have my own room, but I can have a good sleep. However, I have to share one room with 5-6 student at school. Maybe I can’t sleep good. It’s a problem. Although I can have better food at home, I enjoy eat with my classmates. I think it’s a great fun and I can make more friends. If I live at home, I’ll have ride to school. It’s a waste of time and not safely. It’s so hard to make a decision.

I still remember how I became a good table tennis player. The first day I went high school, I saw some of my classmate playing table tennis. Amazed at what skillful they were, I was determined to be just as good. Late on, I often watched them carefully so as to learn his techniques.

Then I kept practise until I became confident enough to challenge the good players. At the end of the term I become one of the best players in my class. I am really proud of this experience, so it helps me realize that we all can fulfill our potential and achieve our goals through the hard work. It also helps me better understood the proverb “Practice makes perfect.”

During the travel back to my hometown, in the plane, I sat next to an old lady who looked very scary. She closed her eyes tight and grasped her red bag on her lap. I thought I might be nervous, so I planned to chat with her to make her to feel relaxed. We talk a lot about our families and experiences. When the flight over, I also helped her carry her luggages. She was so grateful about my help that she gave me the big hug when we were going to leave. On our way out, we waved good-bye. She kept on turning back to see me unless we couldn’t see each other any long.

On Friday, our teacher told us that there would an English corner in front of our teaching building. I set about soon after the last class in the afternoon.

To my joy, the English corner had just been on for a few minute. I joined them on their talk. At first, I was afraid that my English was so poor and limit that I couldn’t follow them or make myself understand. I was also afraid that anyone might laugh at me. But a smiling face here or an encouraging nod there soon put me at ease. Though I speak to them only in simple English that day, I believe in future I will make a greater progress.
