第一篇:《Reading habits in China》

Today, I want to talk about Chinese reading habits in modern society.

First in first, we have to admit that in terms of reading, we lag behind at a very young age. In elementary school, children are forced to accomplish difficult math questions and learn English well. It makes them spend only a little time studying their native language. According to a survey, American kids read more than 8 books every years in their primary grades. However, the teen in china only need to read 6 books in same period, for these books will appear in the junior school entrance examination. As a result, the style of teaching methods is Teacher-centered, students are afraid of proposing new ideas, or they even don’t have. The teenagers are less and less interested in the culture of our own country.

Secondly, as citizens in developing country, people are more open to high-tech products. Parents are more likely to send i-pad as a present to their apples instead of books. The youngsters are not lead to reading numbers of books in their childhood, what’s worse, they will waste amounts of time playing games in mobile phone. They will make an excuse for not having any time to read. Take my roommate as an example. She needs to finish the assignments of reading historical books in winter holiday. Nevertheless, she failed. She wants to relax in holiday, so she play computer games every day. She only has time to play games but doesn’t have time to read.

Third, people in China are more blundering than in other country. They work hard for money. They always fear that they don’t have enough founds when facing emergency. Therefore, they lack the ability to concentrate to long papers for long time. They believe that searching the news and weibo is effective and efficient. Admittedly, we all have no idea about how to deal with the big slice of time. But what we need is to keep calm in fast-paced life, and reading can help us.

Fortunately, we also have some good rending habits. Chairman Mao said that a man cannot read without a pen. It means that we ought to take notes when reading. Only in this way can we read more and learn more.

第二篇:《how to develop a good reading habit》

With the evolution of the life, there are more and more Electronic products. We use to look though news, watch TV and read novel by Electronic products like computers, ipad.

Nevertheless few person can read books. A good reading habit is wealth for us. You will always feel puzzled: How to read? How do we develop a good reading habit? In fact, there are a lot of way to develop a good reading habit. Following is my advice about this.

国防征文

First you should make a plan. Of course, there are some books' names which you need to read in this plan. At the same time, you can put it up in some place which you can look at any time in the morning, in the afternoon during your lunch break, or in the evening after you go to bed. Don't give up. Even if you miss a day or two, or maybe a week, get right back to your plan. Sooner or later you can develop a reading habit that leaves you more informed and more satisfied with your sense of accomplishment. Second you are best in a quiet place when you read. In other words, you can discover a place in you own room in which there is a

comfortable chair. And then you should not be around by TV, computer and any people. This is no doubt that it is necessary for you. If you do not have conditions, you most create

conditions. For example you can make tea or coffee. This is a good idea that read on the sea in the morning or evening. Oniy in this way, you cannot disturb by someone and you can be absorbed in the book. The last things I want to say that you could go to library to find some good books. Going to used book shops also is a good choice. There are a large number of good books that are extremely cheap.

There is an old saying in China, reading thousands of books is equivalent to travel very far. So I hope that this advice can help you to have a good reading habit, so that you can read many books. It helps to improve your cognition and thinking when you develop reading habit. I wish you will develop a good reading habit.

第三篇:《Bob's Reading Habit》

Bob ’s Reading Habithow,do,your,reading,habits。how,do,your,reading,habits。

Hello, everyone! Good morning! I’m Vian, a teacher from Shaangu Kindergarten. I’m very happy to stand here to share my ideas with you.

Let’s share some well-known sayings fist: fist 可以去掉,saying就是名言的意思 Life without books is like no sunlight; wisdom without books is like a bird without wings. --Shakespeare “There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all.” – Jacqueline Kennedy

OK, so we agree(这句话有问题). The love of reading is one of the most amazing gifts we can give to a child. 应该是our children

I’m very sure and happy to say that my son Bob has gotten the gift. He loves reading, and reading has become his habit .This habit is not come naturally, but i had cultivated it from very early, even during pregnancy.how,do,your, reading, habits。

I listened pleasant music and story. And when i walk in the park, i

flowers, the singing birds...everything! I wished he could hear or feel the same with me, or at least he could feel mommy’s love. I bought a prose book and read the articles for both of us. I thought that we could be influenced and (developed) move forward together. When he was born, i went on to offer good music and story to him everyday, Sometimes, mommy or daddy read to him by ourselves. Although , we don’t know how much he can gain, i thought it’s good for him. Studies have shown that listening to sounds is one of the earliest ways a baby can learn, especially (when) 改成for the sound they hear comes去掉 from their parents.

Bob’s name is coming from “Bob the Builder”. “Bob the Builder” is a British children's animated television show .In each episode, Bob and his group help with renovations, construction, and repairs and with other projects as needed. The show emphasizes conflict resolution, co-operation, socialization and various learning skills. Bob's catchphrase is "Can we fix it?", to which the other characters respond with "Yes we can!"

I bought two sets of “Bob the Builder “about ten books .Every night,

book is about 20 to 30 pages. Certainly, these comic books contains 没有s a set of stories told in pictures with a small amount of writing.

Now, Bob is 4 years old. Sometimes, when I’m tired or busy, he can books. Bob the Builder, In the Night Garden, Mickey Mouse Club House, Dr. Stanford’s Laboratory, Winnie the Pooh, My First Encyclopedia, Mini Wolf, and so on. Reading allows Bob to experience a lot of things without having to be there. It’s a very magical 应该是a kind of magic feeling that only people who read can experience.

In my point of view, cultivate 去掉就可以了a good reading habit ishow,do,your, reading, habits。

your kid to read book by himself, you will fail!

So, read in front of your kids. Kids always love to copy their parents.

Reading is one of the components of my life. It’s very convenient forhow,do,your, reading, habits。how,do,your, reading, habits。

me to increase my knowledge, enrich my mind, broaden the horizons and get information. For example, It feeds your mind; It keeps your brain in shape. It develops your critical thinking skills; It makes you more articulate. I don’t agree that traveling thousands of miles is better than reading thousands of books, because only reading books is still limited, life experiences is also important. The rich life experience can help kid understand the books. They are mutually dependent and inter-acting in our (practical) daily life. We try our best to create opportunity for Bob to develop his life experiences.

So,Bob’s reading habit comes from three factors:

Books for children

Family environment

Life experience

Thank you for your listening, and expect your suggestion!

  Text

It was a quarter past nine as Marie hurried into the office building where she was going to work. Her bus had inched along through heavy morning traffic, making her a few minutes late for her very first job. She decided to start out half an hour earlier the next day.Once inside the lobby, she had to stand at the elevators and wait several minutes before she could get on one going to the sixth floor. When she finally reached the office marked "King Enterprises," she knocked at the door nervously and waited. There was no answer. She tapped on the door again, but still there was no reply. From inside the next office, she could hear the sound of voices, so she opened the door and went in.Although she was sure it was the same office she had been in two weeks before when she had had the interview with Mr. King, it looked quite different now. In fact, it hardly looked like an office at all. The employees were just standing around chatting and smoking. At the far end of the room, somebody must have just told a good joke, she thought, because there was a loud burst of laughter as she came in. For a moment she had thought they were laughing at her. Then one of the men looked at his watch, clapped his hands and said something to the others. Quickly they all went to their desks and, in a matter of seconds, everyone was hard at work. No one paid any attention to Marie. Finally she went up to the man who was sitting at the desk nearest to the door and explained that this was her first day in the office. Hardly looking up from his work, he told her to have a seat and wait for Mr. King, who would arrive at any moment. Then Marie realised that the day's work in the office began just before Mr. King arrived. Later she found out that he lived in Connecticut and came into Manhattan on the same train every morning, arriving in the office at 9:35, so that his staff knew exactly when to start working.

  1. Marie felt nervous when she knocked at the door because _______.

[A] it was her first day in a new job[B] she was a little bit late for work[C] she was afraid that she had gone to the wrong place[D] there was no answer from inside the office

  2. Marie could hardly recognise the office she went into as _______.

  3. The people in the office suddenly started working because _______.

[A] they saw a stranger in the office[B] they had finished their morning break[C] no one wanted to talk to Marie[D] the boss was about to arrive

  4. We can infer from the text that the employees of the enterprise _______.

[A] would start their work by listening to a joke[B] were cold to newcomers[C] were always punctual for work[D] lacked devotion to the company

  5. The best title for this text would be _______.

[A] Punctual Like A Clock[B] A Cold Welcome[C] An Unpunctual Manager[D] Better Late Than Never

Part BRead the texts from a magazine article in which five women talked about their slimming failures. For questions 1 to 5, match the name of each woman (1 to 5) to each of the statements (A to G) given below. Mark your answers on your ANSWER SHEET.

Glynis Davis:I first piled on the pounds when I was pregnant and I couldn't lose them afterwards. Then I joined a slimming club. My target was 10 stone and I lost 2 stone 2lbs in six months. I felt great and people kept saying how good I looked. But Christmas came and I started to slip back into my old eating habits. I told myself I'd lose the weight at slimming classes in the new year... but it didn't happen. Instead of losing the pounds, I put them on. I'd lost the willpower and tried to convince myself that the odd bag of crisps didn't make any difference - but the scales don't lie.

Roz Juma:To be honest, I never weigh myself any more - I've learned to be happy with myself. It seemed ridiculous to feel guilty about every morsel that passed my lips. My philosophy is simple: You shouldn't be preoccupied with food and dieting. Instead, you should get on with life and stop dreaming about a super-thin body. This is obviously the size I'm meant to be and, most of all, I'm happy with it.

Lesley Godwin:I was very happy after winning Young Slimmer of the Year. I'd look in the mirror unable to believe this slim creature was me. That might have been my problem - perhaps I didn't relate to my reflection any more. Winning a national competition makes everything worse, though, because you feel the eyes of the world are on you. I feel a failure because I've put on weight again... I find it humiliating and embarrassing.

Ros Langford:Before moving in with my husband Gavin, I'd always been about 8 stone, but domestic bliss went straight to
