My mother used to ask me what is the most important part of the body.Through the years I would guess at what I thought was the correct answer.

When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans, so I said, "My ears, Mommy." She said, "No. Many people are deaf. But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon."

Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated the correct answer.

So this time I told her, "Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be our eyes."

She looked at me and told me, "You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind."

Over the years, Mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was, "No, but you are getting smarter every year, my child."

Then last year, my Grandpa died. Everybody was hurt. Everybody was crying.My Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our final good-bye to Grandpa. She asked me, "Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear?"

I was shocked when she asked me this now. I always thought this was a gamebetween her and me. She saw the confusion on my face and told me, "This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived your life." I saw her eyes well up with tears. She said, "My dear, the most important body part is your shoulder." I asked, "Is it because it holds up your head?"

She replied, "No, it is because it can hold the head of a friend or loved one when they cry. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometimes in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends that you will have a shoulder to cry on when you need it."

课题名称:The most important part of the body (reading) 王宇婷

Analysis of the students

高二的学生对于reading的学习已不陌生,从平时教学过程观察,孩子们并未形成预习的习惯,在授课过程中也特别依赖译文,使得阅读课就没有了意义。由于新单词的认知能力差,加上长难句的理解障碍,学生对阅读课也仅限于稍知皮毛。因此在教学中要考虑学习目标的设定及学习兴趣的提高,我特意选取了一个情感教育浓烈的美文,且新单词和长难句适量。

Analysis of the teaching material

本节课教学内容是由我们曾经做的一个完形填空,也是我在大学时印象比较深刻的一篇美文。这篇文章比较注重情感教育,容易引起学生的兴趣,并且新单词和长短句的数量恰到好处,一节课消化足矣。

教师活动:在复述时可以给学生提供一个模板

学生活动:填空完成总结,并能独立完成对故事的复述

设计意图:关键词是以时间顺序为线索,每段时期发生了不同故事,因此在复述的时候给了学生很大的空间,如果说summary是让学生了解文章的缩影,那么retell就是对学生能力的拓展,而不像24字法中“背诵”

Step6: Homework:

Write a composition about one person who loved you, there should be one or two

moving story in it.

设计意图:每个人在成长过程中都会遇到委屈、伤心、彷徨的时候,一个肩膀或许不能帮你解决问题,却是你心灵中最大的依靠和安慰。肩膀是身体中最不自私的一部分,我们要学会给别人提供爱的肩膀,这样在我们哭泣的时候也会找到一个肩膀,所以还要学会分享。(这段也可以作为结束语)这篇作文是为了让学生寻找自己成长中瞬间,学会安恩也学会爱,同时也回应了刚上课是的那段小视频。

设计意图:课堂是用PPT进行组织的,板书上的内容是帮助学生复述的,这是一篇时间线索很明显的记叙文,把每个时间点写在黑板上,提醒学生注意不同时间段的事件,既给了学生发挥的机会,也不会落下某个时间点。
